If you’re wondering if there’s a national wildlife refuge near you, you’ll be happy to know there are 20 Texas National Wildlife Refuges. They all offer an opportunity to visit land designated to protect various wildlife and a great opportunity for hiking, birding, hunting, and much more.

It’s important to know that there are different fees associated with each location, and most are CASH ONLY. They will also offer different visitor center experiences that may have gift shops as well. These are usually run by the “Friends of” groups that help maintain the refuges.
